Bush Says Faith And Prayer Got Him Through Tough Times
FORT WORTH, Texas - Former President George W. Bush has told a Christian audience that he turned to his faith during tough times in his eight years in office.
He told more than 1,100 people at a banquet Saturday night for Fort Worth Christian School that he didn't see how he could be president without prayer.
The former president also says he doesn't plan on staying in the public eye. He says he won't be "out there opining" or criticizing his successor.
Bush also says he's writing a book about his decisions in office so "you can draw your own conclusions."
Students presented Bush with a $5,000 check from fundraising efforts to help earthquake-ravaged Haiti. President Barack Obama has enlisted Bush and former President Bill Clinton to spearhead private fundraising for Haiti quake relief.
